Writers Workshop with Inua Ellams 

The workshop will take place from Tuesday 24th to Thursday 26th May 2022, 2pm – 6pm each day. Selected participants will be asked to take part in the workshop at the Abbey Theatre, and must be available for all three days of the workshop. Applications are welcome from across the island of Ireland, from all self-identifying writers, playwrights, and essayists.

Up to 10 candidates will be selected for the workshop. Each will be paid an honorarium for their participation in the workshop. Travel and subsistence will be offered to those not based in Dublin.

These workshops will be part of a festival of work at the Abbey that will be announced in the coming weeks.

Inua Ellams was born in Nigeria in 1984 to a Muslim father and Christian mother, and fled with his family to England at age twelve. He moved to Ireland with his family for 3 years, living and attending school in Dublin. He is a poet, performer, playwright, graphic artist and designer, and often writes about his upbringing, the experience of immigration, bringing words to life with pace and rhythm, cadence and intonation.
