Amanda Coogan and Dublin Theatre of the Deaf make a welcome return to Fringe this year in a new work that will appropriate Teresa Deevy’s play The King of Spain’s Daughter.

Taking Deevy’s deafness as their ignition point, this new work will contextualise Deevy’s script within the cultural perspective of the deaf community in Ireland. Using Irish Sign language, and particularly women’s sign, as a choreographic tool, the company will inhabit the Peacock in a visually stunning immersive performance.

Amanda’s work has been described by Artforum as ‘performance art at its best’ and The Irish Times described Coogan’s 2014 collaboration with DTD as ‘a quiet, beautiful spectacle and an intriguing collaboration.’
