This specially filmed version of Me, Mollser puts the character of Mollser from Sean O’Casey’s The Plough and the Stars, centre stage. // An leagan seo de Me, Mollser – leagan scannáin a rinneadh go sonrach – cuireann sé carachtar Mollser ón dráma The Plough and the Stars le Seán O’Casey i lár an stáitse

Me, Mollser by Ali Joy White and Mise, Mollser translated by Caitríona Ní Mhurchú, is the first in our Priming The Canon series of specially commissioned monologues that introduce the classics of Irish theatre to younger audiences. The play has been adapted for film with a new character, Nadia, who links Mollser’s life with contemporary Ireland.

This compelling, funny and poignant performance is designed specifically for schools. The play shows them a strong-willed and passionate young woman coping with consumption against the backdrop of the 1913 Lock-Out and the Easter Rising. Mollser is a proud Dubliner struggling to thrive in the overcrowded tenements but having lost none of her curiosity and idealism.

Aimed at ages 10+, or 5th and 6th class pupils, each school will have access to either an English, Irish version or ISL version. They will also receive a link to a Digital Learning Pack with resources and lesson plans that cover topics and issues raised in the film that link it to the History, English, Drama and SPHE curricula.

Mise, Mollser

Is é atá in Me, Mollser le Ali Joy White agus Mise, Mollser arna aistriú ag Caitríona Ní Mhurchú, an chéad cheann de na monalóga sa tsraith Prímeáil na Canóine a coimisiúnaíodh go speisialta agus a chuireann clasaicí amharclann na hÉireann i láthair an lucht féachana óg. Coigeartaíodh an dráma don scannánaíocht le carachtar nua, Nadia, a nascann saol Mollser le hÉirinn na linne seo.

Ta an léiriú spéisiúil, greannmhar tochtmhar seo ceaptha go sonrach le haghaidh scoileanna. Léirítear dóibh sa dráma bean óg cheanntréan phaiseanta atá ag déileáil leis an eitinn in aghaidh chúlra fhrithdhúnadh 1913 agus Éirí Amach na Cásca. Baile Átha Cliathach bródúil í Mollser atá ag iarraidh a dícheall a dhéanamh teacht slán sna tionóntáin an-phlódaithe ach gan aon phioc dá cuid fiosrachta agus idéalachais a bheith caillte aici.

Dírithe ar na haoisghrúpaí 10+, nó an 5ú nó an 6ú rang atá sé. Beidh teacht ag gach aon scoil ar an leagan Béarla nó an leagan Gaeilge nó ar an leagan ISL. Gheobhaidh siad freisin Beartán Foghlama cumaiscthe mar aon le hacmhainní agus pleananna ceachtanna a chlúdaíonn toipicí agus saincheisteanna a dhúisítear sa scannán agus a nascann é leis na curaclaim Staire, Béarla, Drámaíochta agus SPHE.
