Drama Competition

Act Your Rights aims to help children to become more aware of their rights and explore how rights are reflected in their everyday lives. It offers an innovative and enjoyable way to talk about rights with 4th-6th class students through discussion, drama and art.

We’d like your school to create a short drama piece, 10 minutes max, on the theme of Children’s Rights.

Three overall winners will be selected by the Ombudsman for Children’s Office and Abbey Theatre for Best Ensemble, Best Script and Best Direction.

The children will perform the winning pieces on the Peacock Stage this September.

To take part, simply email a 3 minute clip of your drama to rightscompetition@abbeytheatre.ie along with a short summary of the plot.

The deadline for this is Saturday 30 June.

  • Three winning dramas will per performed on the existing Peacock set
  • Props and furniture should be minimal and easy to transport
  • Please focus on costume to set your scene
