Each one takes a practical approach to exploring the themes, language and characters of the work. We make sure to examine at least one of the key scenes and how a ‘rehearsal perspective’ can give you deeper insight into what a playwright was after. We bring in unconventional and thought provoking perspectives based on our hands on experience of working on plays. By the time your class or community group watch the show itself they’ll have an intimate understanding of both the play and our unique interpretation.
The Plough and the Stars Schools Workshop Programme are now available nationwide. All facilitators have been Garda vetted to work with young people but we do ask that teachers stay with their group. We presume that a school group has some familiarity with the text and are happy to angle the work to particular topic areas if you give us enough forewarning.
Some points to bear in mind:
• We cannot cater for class sizes above 35 but can discuss splitting a larger group if you give us enough notice.
• We need a large space cleared of furniture and not used as a thoroughfare so we can deliver a practical, intensive workshop.
• We can deliver up to three workshops a day but do let us know how far from Dublin you are based so we can arrange travel for our facilitators.
• We charge €5 per pupil.
• We will have a resource pack geared with specific reference to our production available from Wednesday 15 March.
Available March 7th to April 22nd
We have a limited number of facilitators so you may need to be flexible about dates.
