The Abbey Theatre’s Voice Director, Andrea Ainsworth, will lead you through some voice exercises to warm up the voice before exploring some scenes and speeches from Sean O’Casey’s masterpiece The Plough and the Stars in pairs and groups.

O’Casey’s characters have a glorious dexterity with language. They love to out talk and out argue each other. And even when they are losing, they can come up with “Excited, who’s getting excited! It would take more than a thing like you to flutter and feather of Fluther.” or “Take your roving hands from patting the bassinette if you please Mam…”

These workshops will be a wonderful opportunity to experience the joy of taking this rich language off the page and making it your own.
