MusicTown 2018 presents an evening hosted by one of Ireland’s most important young singer-songwriters, Lisa O’Neill.

Lisa O’Neill is an Irish singer-songwriter with roots in folk and traditional music. Her last album, Pothole in the Sky,  set her remarkable incisive voice against impressionistic instrumental back-drops.

For this event Lisa has invited two world renowned artists to collaborate with her: Pat McCabe and Cass McCombs.

Pat McCabe is the twice Booker Prize shortlisted author of The Dead School, The Butcher Boy and Breakfast on Pluto, and numerous other novels which have been brought to life both on stage and on screen. The latter two novels subsequently became internationally acclaimed feature films from director Neil Jordan.

Cass McCombs is a recording artist and songwriter who is widely considered one of the most important American songwriters of this generation. Over the course of eight albums has experimented with everything from downbeat lo-fi recordings to crooner-pop, country music and politicised protest songs. Cass is a fan of Irish music, and that of Lisa O’Neill in particular.

Ian Lynch is a founding member of the folk group Lankum. Widely recognised for his song writing and distinct vocal style, he also spent a number of years lecturing in Irish folklore and Irish traditional music in UCD. His latest release with Lankum is Between the Earth and Sky.
