An exploration of international stories that celebrate our national diversity.

Ninth Star Youth Theatre are a multi – cultural group hailing from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Malawi, Republic of Congo, Albania and Ireland. They are very excited to perform their debut show Here, There & Now in association with the Abbey Theatre and in collaboration with storyteller Aron Hegarty & Candle Lit Tales.

Irish mythology tells us that we are one of the few cultures without a creation story. Where other countries understand their place in the world by having stories about primal figures, the Irish identify with the land first. We tell stories of the different people who came here and formed our culture in an exchange with this land. Here, There and Now brings this right up to date.

Ninth Star Youth Theatre was formed by young people living at Mosney Reception Centre who began taking drama workshops facilitated by Ailish Leavy. The musical aspect of these stories are an integral part of this performance and involve Siobhra Quinlan, a music teacher who has worked closely with the young people, Farah Elle, a solo performer who also teaches music to the group and the musicians of Candlelit Tales.
