Come behind the scenes at your national theatre on Culture Night 2018.
Explore an exhibition of behind-the-scenes materials, join us for a walking tour of Dublin’s theatre history, or participate in a theatre-making workshop.
All events are free but ticketed and capacity is limited. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis from 4pm on 21 September.
We will also be Out of the Abbey at the Cork Opera House, with free performances of Manchán Magan’s Gaeilge Tamagotchi and Arán & Im.

Interested in discovering more of Dublin’s dramatic side? This unique guided tour is the only one dedicated to the city’s theatre history. Explore street art, galleries, architecture, sites of historical significance, and plenty of hidden and forgotten gems.
Tours will depart from the Abbey Theatre Foyer at 4pm and 6pm.
Behind-the-Scenes Exhibition: 4pm – 8pm
Get a glimpse of how we create work for the stage, along with some insight into the history of the Abbey Theatre. The exhibition holds behind-the-scenes materials from the shows you see on stage, including costumes, archival material, model boxes and wigs.
Theatre-making Workshop: 7.30 – 8.30pm
A theatre-making workshop where you’ll discover the craft and magic that brings everything together. No experience necessary!
