Is The Great Hunger safe to attend?
In order to welcome back our artists, staff and audiences to live performance, we have adapted our customer experience. We have adhered to all COVID-19 prevention protocols and have a bespoke risk-assessed plan in place to ensure the safety of all ticket holders, artists and staff.
Where are the entry and exit points?
Please use the main entrance at Military Road to enter and exit the grounds of IMMA. Abbey staff will be there to admit patrons.
Where will the audience gather?
Audience members should walk up to the IMMA courtyard, where we’ll have a pop-up box office. Our Front of House team will meet you and supply you with a wristband for your performance time and direct you to your designated waiting area. Please remain there until you’re brought to the first performance location. Please remain 2 metres apart from those around you at all times.
How will I navigate the route?
Each audience group will be accompanied by an Abbey staff member, who will direct you towards the next location. Please remain 2 metres apart from those around you at all times.
Will there be social distancing markers?
There are guidelines in place at IMMA to enable you to enjoy your visit safely. Please adhere to these and follow the guidance of staff at all times.
Do I have to wear a face mask?
Face masks are mandatory. Staff will be wearing face masks also.
Will hand sanitiser be available?
Sanitising stations will be situated around the courtyard area.
Is there a map of the performance?
There will be a map of the route in the online programme.
What time should I arrive?
To respect social distancing guidelines we ask that you arrive no later than ten minutes before a performance starts. Latecomers will not be able to join once the group has left the courtyard.
How far will I have to walk?
As this is an outdoor promenade production it will involve walking, so appropriate footwear is advised. Total walking distance is 1.7km. The total walking time is 30 minutes, the total performance time is 60 minutes, there is no interval.
Are tickets available on site?
Tickets won’t be available on site, however a limited number may become available at 12pm the day of the performance. Keep an eye on our social media channels for further information.
How do I get to IMMA?
IMMA is situated in Dublin 8 and is easily accessible by car, on foot, by rail, bus or bike. Visit IMMA for further information on how to get there.
Is there parking on site?
The car park at IMMA cuts through the route of the performance and is not available. There is paid parking available at Heuston Station, which is a 5 minute walk from the Military Road entrance.
Is the performance accessible?
Yes it is. If you have access needs please call our Box Office on (01) 87 87 222.
Is there any shelter?
This is an outdoor production, so we advise you dress appropriately for an outdoor production, wear comfortable shoes and prepare for inclement weather.
What happens if the weather is bad?
In case of bad weather we will have an alternate performance area. In extreme circumstances we may have to cancel performances at short notice. In that instance please check our social media channels ahead of the performance. If you hold a ticket for any affected performances, our box-office team will be in touch directly. We’ll do our best to update each customer individually.
Can I re-join further down the performance if I need to leave for any reason?
If you leave the performance, you cannot rejoin your group. We’d advise you to use bathroom facilities in advance.
Are there toilets?
Toilets are located in the Courtyard.
Will there be an ISL interpreted performance?
Yes there is, on Friday 9 October. Tickets will be extremely limited so please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a ticket.
