Dr. Frances Ruane will continue to serve in her role as Chair for a further two years, having been first appointed in May 2017.

‘I am pleased to reappoint Dr. Ruane as Chair of the Board of the Abbey Theatre as she has the essential experience and knowledge necessary to continue to lead the Board of the Abbey Theatre”. “She has a distinguished track record and has brought this valued experience to bear as Chair to date”.

Biography

Dr. Ruane is currently Chair of the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council. Dr. Ruane was director of the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) for nine years until 2015. Dr. Ruane has previously served as Chair of the National Statistics Board and has been a Board Member of various public bodies, including the National Board for Science and Technology, the Industrial Development Authority, Forfás, Bord Gáis Eireann, the Higher Education Authority, the Health Research Board and the Commission of the National Pensions Reserve Fund. Over her academic career, Dr. Ruane has contributed to the work of various EU and international bodies and has been a visitor at several universities in the USA and Canada.
