Access to the Abbey Theatre Archive

The Archive was established to collect, preserve and make available the documentary heritage of the Abbey Theatre. These records housed both on-site and off-site, are made available to bone fide researchers who need to consult them.

Due to limitations of space, the Archive can accommodate only one reader at a time for the purpose of study. Because of this, making an appointment is essential and booking well in advance is highly recommended.

Please note that you will need to advise the Archivist of the materials you wish to consult prior to your appointment. The Archivist will also advise you if there are any access restrictions in relation to the records that you have requested.

Readers must be able to provide photographic identification and where appropriate a letter of introduction from a senior academic staff member at their university.

On-site research appointments are available:
Monday-Thursday 10am-1pm & 2pm-4pm
Bank Holidays Closed

Enquiries about the collection can also be made by telephone, letter, or email.
