Great Poetry Read by Great Actors
Angeline Ball, Patrick Bergin, Ingrid Craigie and Colm Tóibín on the Abbey Stage.
Following the sell-out success of 2016’s Josephine Hart Poetry Hour, the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation returns to the Abbey Stage to celebrate the wonderful poetry of Yeats’ friend and ardent admirer, Pulitzer Prize winner W.H. Auden.
The programme will include Auden’s much acclaimed masterpiece, ‘In Memory of W.B. Yeats,’ ‘Funeral Blues’ and some of the most beautiful love poetry ever written.
Auden passionately believed ‘No poem which is not better read aloud is good poetry.’
In this special evening, a selection of Auden’s work, alongside Josephine Hart’s hugely admired introductions, will be performed by celebrated figures including actors Angeline Ball (Redwater, The Commitments), Patrick Bergin (Red Rock, The Patriot Games, Sleeping with the Enemy), Ingrid Craigie (RTÉ’s Striking Out, The Dead) and writer Colm Tóibín (House of Names, Nora Webster).
Produced and Directed by Shevaun Wilder for The Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation.
