How to find us


Abbey Theatre is situated in the heart of Dublin City, and is accessible by a wide range of public and private transport.

Abbey Theatre is only a moments walk from O’Connell Street in Dublin city centre (see map) and can be accessed by bus (Dublin Bus, Bus Éireann), train (Dart or Commuter) or tram (Luas).

Getting here by Bus

If you are traveling by Dublin Bus you can take practically any route to the City Centre; many will stop on or near O’Connell Street which is near Abbey Theatre.

If you are traveling on an InterCity or Expressway bus, you will alight at the main bus station, Bus Áras, which is a few minutes walk from Abbey Theatre

Getting here by Train or Tram

If you are traveling by train, the nearest stations are Tara Street and Connolly Stations.

If you are traveling by Luas you should take the Red Line Luas to Abbey Street.

Parking

Parking (including disabled parking) is available for €5 (for the full evening) after 5.30pm at the Irish Life Car Park off Lower Abbey Street.

Getting here from Dublin Airport

Taxis are readily available from the airport with a fair costing in the region of €20.

Alternatively you can use the Dublin Bus Airlink service no. 747. The bus leaves from directly outside the arrivals terminal and stops in O’Connell Street. On leaving the bus walk towards the River Liffey taking a left on Lower Abbey Street one block from O’Connell Bridge, which will bring you directly to the Abbey. The whole journey will take about 30 minutes.

Fares are: Single €6, Return €10

Airlink prepaid tickets can be bought at the Bus and Rail information desk and the Dublin Tourism information desk. They can also be bought from the vending machines located at the bus departure points at the airport. If you do not already have a prepaid ticket, you must pay the exact fare in coins to the driver.
