In this unique evening Joseph O’Connor talks to Philip King and explores the influence of Irish-American ballads in his recent fiction. Look forward to lots of chat, readings, reflections, rhymings, some songs and an insight or two along the way. Oh – and a special surprise guest to join in every evening.

Joseph O’Connor is renowned for his best-selling novels Star of the Sea and Redemption Falls. In his weekly radio column on RTÉ Radio 1, he provides fascinating and entertaining commentaries on the state of Ireland today. He is truly the people’s poet, shining an unsparing light on the travails of our time. His new novel Ghost Light was published in June and it became an immediate bestseller.

“This is a rare and wonderful book.”
Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Hours.

Musician, filmmaker and broadcaster Philip King has been at the heart of some of the most exciting music and film projects in recent years. His much-loved programme The South Wind Blows broadcasts weekly on RTE Radio 1.

“Philip King has a gift for celebrating what’s about to happen – and capturing what’s about to disappear.”
The Irish Times
