WERK: FAT OF THE LAND

Following a sensational run at Electric Picnic, WERK returns home to the Abbey Theatre for two nights of mayhem and history-making during the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival this October. Underground club and performance roulette, this already infamous blast of ideas is a guaranteed wild night out. Irreverent, bold and trashy, WERK is the house of outrageous investigation, abnormal talent and unnatural beauty.

Join your host, craic-whore, Neil Watkins, DJs Chewy Chewerson and Will Dempsey, along with a myriad of performance giants for this Molotov cocktail of ideas, show and fun.

It’s a party: Clock in – WERK out.

Previous artists at WERK include: Derbhle Crotty, Andrea Irvine, Lisa Hannigan, The Rubberbandits, Emmet Kirwan, Dave Lorden, The Pulpit, Ponydance, Paul Rowley, Fionn Kidney, Chewy Chewerson, Bitches With Wolves, THEATREclub, junk ensemble and Aidan Kelly to name but a few.

Clever and hilarious performances, lovely crowd, WERK should be a monthly event!

so much fun, very entertaining, a fresh and innovative night that stimulated the creative and intellectual neurons. looking forward to next time.

Lady Gregory must be spinning in her grave - furious that she didn’t have a ticket for Werk.

Best night ever - I cant wait for the next installment !!!

A perfectly balanced night of savage theatre, accessible art, and new music served with cans of beer and zero pomp. We want more.

INSTANT HIT.Should be a monthly fixture. Exhilarating, empowering and current. Captures the brilliance and beauty of spoken word and song, something that is inherent to our culture and brings it bang up to date. I feel part of this. This is what I want for ten euro in my national theatre.

Brilliant night all round, great atmosphere and fantastic performers.

The best mix of performances I’ve seen in a long long time.

exilerating, challenging, fusing multilple art forms - it’s legendary already

Werk brings together disparate elements and makes them work in a way that makes sense and you ask “Why did noone ever do this before?” and “Can we do this every month?  Please?”
Great stuff thisispopbaby and thank you to the Abbey.
