A celebration of playwright, Tom MacIntyre’s 80th birthday.
Celebrated playwright, poet and author of fiction Tom Mac Intyre has delighted audiences with his daring and original work for over forty years.
He is known as a writer who knows no fear, a shaman, a true adventurer, a cherished poet of our national theatre.
Tom Mac Intyre’s 2009 play, Only An Apple, was his sixteenth world premiere at the Abbey Theatre, an extraordinary record for any playwright. A glance at his production posters will colourfully illustrate what a trawl through the Abbey Archive tells us: that Tom Mac Intyre has a unique relationship with the Abbey Theatre. His first play, Eye Winker, Tom Tinker was produced in 1972. This premiere marked the beginning of a long engagement with Irish actors, directors and, indeed, loyal audiences which continues to this day.
Join us for a celebratory evening of excerpts from his work performed by special guests and a reading from the playwright himself.
Directed by Oonagh Murphy, Resident Assistant Director
