Let your imagination soar with this exciting show.

Acrobat, clown, poet and magician, James Thiérrée creates a world of endless invention.

One of Europe’s most extraordinarily versatile artists, Thiérrée uses his impish talent to transform everyday objects into magical dream-like spectacles that captivate, charm and inspire.

In this solo show, Thiérrée is Raoul, a man without beginning or end, who tumbles through a series of utopian fantasies in which acrobatics, mysterious transformations, music and dance collide – a world which is at once recognisable and yet utterly alien. Raoul is a surprising and daring show in which Thiérrée mischievously teases the audience whilst demonstrating his formidable skills through delightful visual comedy.

Following the success of Aurélia’s Oratorio, Taoub and Circo da la Sombra, we’re delighted to team up once again with Crying Out Loud to present this captivating show.

A fun show for all the family.

A Compagnie du Hanneton/Junebug production co-commissioned by the Abbey Theatre in association with Crying Out Loud, barbicanbite09, La Coursive Scène Nationale de La Rochelle, Le Théâtre de Namur, La Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand, Théâtre de la Ville Paris, La Maison de la Danse Lyon, and Théâtre National de Toulouse

What a night!!!I have been to the theatre lots of times but I have never seen anything quite like this. If you are fed up with the election + everyone saying we are doomed head to the abbey. Whoever was responsible for getting this show on should be running the country as it is clear they know what the country needs.Imaginative, engaging, varied, challenging , not a foot out of place.Well done to everyone involvedg, more of this and there will be a full house everynight.A must see

What a fantastic show! I brought along a nephew and niece aged 8 and 10 and they completely spontaneously not only stood up for a standing ovation, but actually jumped up and down with joy. I had to restrain myself from doing the same thing. My adult companions felt the same.
I go to the theatre very regularly and see all kinds of productions but that was a very special night indeed. Congrats to the Abbey for having the imagination to bring somebody like Thierry to Dublin. I am recommending it to one and all as a cure for the recession.

Amazing show, well worth going to see. I was surprised at how many different elements were packed into it, meaning that children could enjoy the clowning aspects while for adults there were emotional undercurrents they could follow. I am not one who particular enjoys clowns, however this for me was just dressing to a show that engages an audience while showcasing some wonderful theatrics. I would whole-heartedly recommend the show.

‘the most beautiful thing you will ever see on the Abbey stage’

Irish Independent

Thiérrée will render you speechless from the moment you walk through the doors of the Abbey…

Everyday objects become entangled in an existential fantasy that induces gasps and tears to a stunned and delighted audience.

Words on a page do not seem good enough to describe the experience of this piece of theatre.

Le Cool

This is a life changing piece of theatre …

This piece reaches out to the audience (sometimes literally) and has succeeded in distilling the very essence of life …

This is special and James Thiérrée is a marvellous, marvellous, marvellous genius.
