We first heart The Waterboys in 1985, when we were living in Hamburg. Since then we listened to them every year and year. A musical company through our live. The concert in Dublin (we´ve been there on Friday 19th) was another climax in our Waterboys-Experience.Thank you for these 25 years(so far) and this wonderful show.Waiting desperately for the album and dvd.

We came from Norfolk, England and were privileged to get seats for first night and were completely blown away by the whole experience. My only hope before the night was, that the arrangements would match The Stolen Child. That hope was fullfiled and in some instances surpassed by a brilliant group of musicians. DVD and album soon please

When we heard that Mike Scott and The Waterboys were putting music to 20 poems by Mr. Yeats, we rushed to get tickets and flights over to Dublin from Winnipeg. We were so fortunate and a real honour to be there for opening night at The Abbey! It was an inspired and inspiring experience and we’re grateful to have been there to share such a spirited and wonderful interpretation of the poems. Bravo, Mr. Scott & the brilliant musicians in the Waterboys. Thank you, Mr. Yeats, for enriching our world.

Came all the way from the states for this, along with my Dad from Canada.
I was in awe. To hold an audience that well with unknown songs is extraordinary, and this was a hugely brave move artistically. I was reminded of Bowie’s artistry and range. I will always remember seeing Mike’s face light up at the first ovation. Extraordinarily well deserved, and the album will be a classic.
The Waterboys deserve to be huge again because of this. And it suits Mike, Steve and their new bandmates to be literary rock stars. Bravo.

I was happy enough to be present at 3 of the concerts.
I don’t have enough words for this fabulous experience.
Mike Scott and Steve Wickham gathered amazing musicians around them for this “appointment”.
It was amazing, beautiful, warm, VERY Kurt Weill like by times...one of the best productions I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen QUITE some shows by now.
Can’t wait to see it on dvd or back on stage again.

The two shows I’ve been to were breathtaking.....awesome......very touching....!
I am still totally enchanted by the magic and the beauty.
Mike did a very great job to transform the beautiful poetry of W.B.Yeats into the most wonderful music and songs and he performed on his very own special way surrounded by amazing musicians.
I did not know what to expect but it was more than I could ever dream of. An amazing show of very highest order !
Thank you Mike Scott for bringing me more into the beautiful world of Mr. Yeats and thank you and all bandmembers for the incredible wonderful shows !

The opening scene of An Appointment delivered a crashing of waves which gave way to the gentle beating of a piano/keyboard harmony sending my heart aflutter but the driving drums caught it just in time for Mike to launch straight into ‘The Hosting of the Sidhe’. It was at this point I was already aware that my soul had erupted into a previously unknown realm of unlikely return. ‘The Song of Wandering Aengus’ stunned my senses and Mike’s scrapy guitar lead in to ‘Mad as the Mist and Snow’ was dripping with an originality which could have only been surpassed by Wickham’s trousers and perhaps the fiddle/trombone ‘music-off’ which followed before the whole song went nuclear! What a fantastic thing has happened here, the carefully considered words of W.B. Yeats uniquely arranged by a dream line-up of musicians to create what Yeats himself always wanted. To a band who are in their prime always and everywhere from a fan who is always left in pieces and wanting more :)

We came to Dublin from north wales just for this gig and we were not disappointed. We have both been fans of Mike Scott, The Waterboys for 20 years, but we were unsure how yeats poetry would work with the waterboys style.
Mike Scott and his musicians were outstanding, or as my partner dewi said over and over again...... phenomenal!!!!!!!
Mike Scott is a genius, his passion and presence introduced us both to yeats’ poetry, so much so, that the next day, Dewi even bought a tatty paperback book of mr yeats work in a book shop near the bus terminal, which he read on the journey home.
We are extremely privileged to say that we were both part of this wonderful evening, and were elated to hear ‘don’t bang the drum’ which ended the evening perfectly.
Two standing ovations and encores summed up the whole evening. bravo !!!!!!

What a truly remarkable achievement! Mike Scott & Steve Wickham’s newly constituted Waterboys (with 3 girls) created and performed what has to have been one of the most truly superb and enjoyable concerts I have had the pleasure to experience. Yeat’s poetry - vibrant, mythical and magical renewed for the 21st century. Each poem beautifully and thoughtfully put to music and delivered in the Waterboys inimitable style. The band were awesome and a bonus for me was the inclusion of Sarah Allen from Flook (another favourite band) as flautist. Two standing ovations and encores, the last of which included Don’t Bang the Drum and The Whole of the Moon obviously unconnected to the focus of the evening but a fantastic boon to ‘Big Music’ fans! I’ve booked tickets for the November show at the Grand Canal Theatre and I can’t wait. Roll on the album in the meantime. - Note to Mike Scott: this show needs to be filmed/recorded for posterity!
