Two Leading Irish Theatre Producers Join Abbey Theatre

Two leading Irish Theatre producers are joining the Abbey Theatre team.

Jen Coppinger has been appointed as Head of Producing (New Work Development) and Sarah Lynch has been appointed Head of Producing (Programme Development). The two producers will work closely together leading a newly created, New Work Department.

Speaking about the appointments, Abbey Theatre Directors Graham McLaren and Neil Murray said:

“We are delighted that Jen and Sarah are joining our team at the Abbey. Their individual experience, networks and their combined energy will be instrumental in delivering our vision of placing artists and ideas at the very heart of our national theatre.”

Biographies

Jen Coppinger works as Producer for HotForTheatre, TheEmergencyRoom, United Fall as well as with independent artists such as Kevin Barry, Paul Curley, Kellie Hughes, Seán Mac Erlaine, Gina Moxley, Jody O’Neill, Shane O’Reilly, Raymond Scannell and Dylan Tighe.

She has toured work extensively in Ireland and internationally. Recent productions include Danse, Morob by Laurent Gaudé, a co-production with TheEmergencyRoom and Project Arts Centre and Autumn Royal by Kevin Barry, a co-production with Kevin Barry and The Everyman.

She has worked on partnerships, commissions and co-productions with Cusack Projects Limited, Dublin Dance Festival, Dublin Theatre Festival, Galway International Arts Festival, International Literature Festival Dublin, The Irish Traveller Movement and Poetry Ireland.

She previously worked on the programming team of Galway 2020, Irish Theatre Institute, Arts Audiences, RADE (Recovery through Art Drama and Education), City Arts Centre, Dublin Writers Festival and The Abbey Theatre.

Currently Jen is Project Manager for the Laureate for Irish Fiction (Anne Enright 2015-2018) for the Arts Council of Ireland. She is Chairperson of Youth Theatre Ireland and is also a member of the board of Theatre Forum. She is the Manager of Rough Magic SEEDS and an Artist Research Fellow at Queen Mary University of London.

Sarah Lynch is a theatre producer with over twenty years’ experience. As General Manager of Druid Theatre Company, Galway from 2012 – 2017, Sarah produced all Druid productions including The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Waiting For Godot, Brigit and Bailegangaire, Big Maggie and DruidShakespeare.

As General Manager of Druid, Sarah led the Druid team on all productions and was instrumental in building the company’s world-wide reputation as a leader in touring.

She worked closely with the Artistic Director, Board of Directors and managed and led the Druid core team.

At Druid, Sarah also held roles as Touring Manager/Assistant Director, Company Manager/Director and Stage Manager.

Sarah was the winner of the 2010 Individual Achievement in Theatre – Tour and Company Management awarded by the Stage Management Association, UK and Ireland.

Sarah Lynch will be contactable at the Abbey Theatre from 6 June 2017 while Jen Coppinger will commence on 2 January 2018.
