The Plough and the Stars on tour

Embarking on a two month North American tour.

This autumn, The Plough and the Stars by Sean O’Casey will embark on a two month North American tour.

Set amid the tumult of the Easter Rising, The Plough and the Stars is the story of ordinary lives ripped apart by the idealism of the time.

Now regarded as a masterpiece, this provocative play is an essential part of our understanding of 1916.

Over 36,000 people saw The Plough and the Stars at the Abbey Theatre earlier this year, Following that, it embarked on an Irish tour which travelled to the Cork Opera House; The National Opera House, Wexford; Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick and the Town Hall Theatre in Galway.

The production also travelled to Washington DC in May where it was performed at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts as part of the Ireland 100 centenary celebrations.

In September, The Plough and the Stars will visit Canadian Stage in Toronto and from there it will continue onto four other venues – the American Repertory Theater, Harvard University; the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, University of Pennsylvania; Peak Performances at Montclair State University, New Jersey; finishing up in the Southern Theatre, Columbus, Ohio presented by CAPA and The Ohio State University.

The Plough and the Stars is produced by the Abbey Theatre in association with Cusack Projects Ltd.

Proudly sponsored by Irish Life, and Culture Ireland as part of the Ireland 2016 Centenary Programme.
