Quietly recieves an outstanding reaction in Belfast

As part of the Abbey Theatre’s tour Quietly came home to Belfast for week long run at the Lyric Theatre

The award winning Quietly by Owen McCafferty arrived home to Belfast for a week of performances at the Lyric Theatre. has been on an 11 venue All Ireland tour for arrived at for seven performances only.

When it premiered at the Abbey Theatre in November 2012, The Irish Times hailed it as ‘The best new play of the year’. Last year this critically-acclaimed production travelled to the largest arts festival in the world, the Edinburgh Fringe. It was quickly labeled the ‘must see’ play of the festival. The production won a prestigious Scotsman Fringe First Award, Owen McCafferty scooped the Writers’ Guild Award for Best Play and Patrick O’Kane’s stunning performance was acknowledged as Best Actor at The Stage Awards.

Arriving in Belfast was another remarkable occassion on the journey of this important new play. Quietly is a play poised delicately between the past and future. It speaks to the present moment in Belfast. This powerful story is directed by Jimmy Fay who soon takes up his role as Executive Producer at the Lyric Theatre and stars celebrated actors Declan Conlon and Patrick O’Kane and Polish actor, Robert Zawadzki.
