Tom Piper
Tom’s previous work at the Abbey Theatre includes The Crucible, Six Characters in Search of an Author and The Last Days of a Reluctant Tyrant. Tom is the Associate Designer of the RSC. He conceived the designs for the Histories Cycle (Courtyard Theatre and at the Roundhouse), designing Richard II, Henry IV – Parts 1 and 2, Henry V, Henry VI – Parts 1, 2 and 3 and Richard III for which he won the 2009 Olivier Award for Best Costume Design and was nominated for the 2009 Olivier Award for Best Set Design. Other recent designs include As You Like It , The Tempest (The Bridge Project at BAM, the Old Vic and on a world tour), The Grain Store, The Drunks ,(RSC), Zorro (West End, UK Tour, Paris), Dealer’s Choice (Menier Chocolate Factory and West End), Falstaff (Scottish Opera), Fall (RSC at the Traverse), Spyski (Lyric Hammersmith and tour) and The Scarecrow and His Servant (Southwark Playhouse). Elsewhere Tom has worked at the National Theatre, the Donmar, the Royal Opera House, Soho Theatre, Dundee Rep, the Bush, Gate Theatre Dublin, Nottingham Playhouse, the Royal Court, Hampstead, Sheffield and in the West End. His future plans include Zorro (Japan, Amsterdam, Russia, Korea and Germany) and the first production in the new Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
