Shawn Sturnick
Shawn’s first appearance at the Abbey Theatre was in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui. His theatre credits include Sweet Pretty Love Jam (Smock Alley), Sunny Days (Project Brand New), The Importance of Being Earnest (City Theatre), A Closet Flung Wide Ope’, Solomon A Life (Cobalt Café), Blue Man Group (New York), On Raftery’s Hill, Trust (Súgán Theater, Boston), No Time for Comedy (Mint, New York), Restoring the Sun (Contemporary Stage, Delaware), King Lear (New Repertory, Boston), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Syracuse Stage, New York), The Glass Menagerie (Worcester Foothills), Frogz (Imago Mask, Portland), Fully Committed (Vineyard Playhouse, Martha’s Vineyard), The Mound Builders (Burning Coal, Raleigh), Shear Madness (Charles Playhouse, Boston), Killer Joe (WHAT, Cape Cod) and Richard II (Three Rivers Shakespeare, Pittsburgh). Film and television credits include Guiding Light, Dead Time and The Transitive Property. Shawn trained at New York University’s Graduate Acting Programme and the Moscow Art Theatre School. Shawn is also a produced, published and translated playwright. His short play, A Closet Flung Wide Ope’, won the Oscar Wilde Award for Best New Writing in the 2007 International Gay Theatre Festival and his most recent collaboration, Luck, won the Bewley’s Award in the 2008 Dublin Fringe Festival.
