Neil Sharpson
Neil Sharpson was born in Dublin in 1983 and first began writing drama at the age of sixteen while attending Scoil Chaitríona in Glasnevin. Upon entering UCD he joined UCD Dramsoc and wrote a total of 16 scripts for the society. Five of those, The Hole, Paradise Lost, Fruitcake, Father of the Son and Patron Saints of America were nominated for the Dramsoc Award for Best Original Script, with The Hole winning in 2003. In 2007 he was honoured with the first Dramsoc Award for Outstanding Contribution to Original Writing. He now works in the Financial Regulator (the recession was not his fault, honest) and established CYEBO Theatre with his girfriend Aoife O’Donoghue. In summer 2008 they had their first production, a staging of Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.
Neil is one of six participants in the 2009 pilot New Playwrights Programme.
