Marie Mullen

Marie last appeared at the Abbey Theatre in Big Maggie in 2001. Her other work here includes Famine, The Cavalcaders, A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant, Drama at Inish, Conversations on a Homecoming, The Power of Darkness, The Plough and the Stars and The Shaughraun. She is a founder member of Druid where she has appeared in many productions including The Cripple of Inishmaan, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, DruidSynge (Riders to the Sea, The Playboy of the Western World, The Tinker’s Wedding, The Well of the Saints and Deirdre of the Sorrows), Bailegangaire, The Loves of Cass Maguire and The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Other theatre work includes Crestfall (Gate Theatre), Juno and the Paycock (Gaiety Theatre), The Man of Mode, Love of a Nightingale, The Man Who Came to Dinner and King Lear (RSC). Film and television credits include Dorothy Mills, Pure Mule, When Brendan Met Trudy, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Butcher Boy, The Van, Snakes and Ladders, Circle of Friends, Family and The Lilac Bus. Marie received an Irish Times Theatre Award for Best Actress (2004), a Tony Award for Best Actress (1998), an Obie Award (1998), Evening Herald Actress of the Year Award (1984), Sunday Independent Actress of the Year Award (1983) and a Harvey’s Irish Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress (1983).
