Liz Roche

Liz’s work for the Abbey Theatre includes The Government Inspector, The Cherry Orchard, The Burial at Thebes and The House of Barnarda Alba. Other theatre and opera work includes Medea (Siren Productions), A Dream Play (NAYD), Festen (Gate Theatre), Miss Julie, The Secret Garden and Alice In Wonderland (Landmark Productions), 1742 and The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish (The Ark), The Mines of Sulphur (Wexford Festival Opera), Lucio Silla (Opera De Nice), Axur Re D’Ormus and Lucio Silla (Opernhaus Zurich) Semiramide (Rossini Opera Festival and Liceu Barcelona), Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Aida, Queen of Spades and The Silver Tassie (Opera Ireland). Liz is Artistic Director and choreographer for Liz Roche Company (formerly Rex Levitates). Her work for the company has been performed throughout Ireland and in New York, Massachusetts, London, Liverpool, Beijing, Dusseldorf and Paris. Her new dance piece Body and Forgetting will open this year’s Dublin Dance Festival in May 2012. She is the recipient of the Peter Darrell UK choreography award and The Bonnie Bird New Choreography Award and has been commissioned to make work for the National Ballet of China, Scottish Dance Theatre and CoisCéim Dance Theatre. She recently co-choreographed Cold Dream Colour, a homage to Louis Le Broquy, with choreographers Morleigh Steinberg and Oguri with music by Paul Chavez and The Edge. Liz is also Choreographer-in-Residence at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at University of Limerick and sits on the board of Theatre Forum.
