Lisa Keogh
Born in Dublin in 1982, Lisa Keogh was an active member of the Dublin Youth Theatre, and was among the Irish delegation at the summer 2000 European Youth Theatre event in Jerusalem. She left Dublin in September 2000 to study English and Film Studies at the University of Aberdeen. During her time there she was involved as director and performer with AU Centre Stage and set up Sumaire Theatre Company to produce her first full-length play Dramatis Personae at the Aberdeen Arts Centre. She moved to Northern Ireland in 2005 for a MA in Creative Writing at Queen’s University, where she now teaches creative writing. She has been involved as writer in several theatre projects with the Centre for Excellence in the Creative and Performing Arts (CECPA) at Queen’s and is the co-creator of The Lonely Page – a creative writing conference and journal. She has directed and performed shows for the Cursed Theatre Company and her short film Mute begins shooting in Summer 2009. Her short play Even Clean Hands Cause Damage was commissioned by Tall Tales Theatre Company and was performed in June 2008 at the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan as part of the showcase, Chance. Still living in Belfast Lisa is in the third year of a creative writing PhD at Queen’s; she is studying the difference between stage and screenwriting through her practical research project, Ahab’s Daughter.
Lisa is one of six participants in the 2009 pilot New Playwrights Programme.
