Jon’s work at the Abbey Theatre includes Romeo and Juliet, Terminus and Julius Caesar. Other theatre designs include Scenes From the Back of Beyond (Royal Court), The Soldier’s Tale (Old Vic), The Birthday Party (Lyric, Hammersmith) Water (Filter/Lyric, Hammersmith and tour), James and the Giant Peach, nominated Best Design Manchester Evening News (Octagon, Bolton), The Great Highway (Gate, London), Cymbeline, Macbeth (Regents Park Open Air Theatre), Frankenstein (Derby Playhouse), Piranha Heights, Shrieks of Laughter, Baghdad Wedding (Soho Theatre), The New Tenant, Interior, The Exception and the Rule, Winners, The Soul of Chien-nu Leaves her Body (Young Vic), Carver (Arcola Theatre), In the Bag, Melody (Traverse, Edinburgh), Sanctuary (National Theatre, London), Switchback, Possible Worlds (Tron, Glasgow) and The Taming of the Shrew (Theatre Royal, Plymouth). Dance designs include Scribblings (Rambert), Snow White in Black, Best Dance Production Critics’ Circle Awards (Phoenix Dance Theatre), Ghosts, Before the Tempest, Sophie, Stateless, Asyla, Echo and Narcissus (Royal Opera House), Mixtures (English National Ballet), Non Exeunt (George Piper Dances), Marjorie’s World Unhinged (Tilted) and Firebird (Stadttheater, Bern). Opera design includes The Knot Garden (Klangbogen Festival, Vienna), The Lighthouse (Teatro, Montelpulciano), The Queen of Spades (Edinburgh Festival Theatre). Future work includes The Tale of Two Cities (Northern Ballet Theatre) and The Thief of Baghdad (Royal Opera House). Jon read Music as a choral scholar at Oxford University and Fine Art at Exeter College of Art before training on the Motley Theatre Design Course.
