Jody O’Neill
Jody was a member of Activate Youth Theatre and then completed the Bachelor in Acting Studies, Trinity College Dublin. She works as a writer and actor. As a writer, her first play was produced by Fishamble Theatre Company as part of Whereabouts, which received the judge’s special award at the Irish Times Theatre Awards, 2007. Her second play, They Never Froze Walt Disney, was nominated for the Fishamble New Writing Award in 2008. Foreign Affairs was commissioned by Tall Tales and premiered in June 2008. Jody adapted End of the Line from the Romanian Podul Sinucigasilor by Paul Ioachim for Cork Midsummer Festival 2008. She is currently under commission by Asylum Productions. Two of her works in progress have been produced as part of Project Brand New; Breakfast in March 2008 and Celebrity in January 2009. Theatre work includes An Triail with Aisling Ghear, The Little Prince with Mutations Theatre Company, Soisceal an Chroi and The Lost Ones with Graffiti Theatre Company, Mouth with Articulate Anatomy, One: Healing With Theatre with Pan Pan, Town Mouse, Country Mouse and The Biggest Adventure in the World with Barnstorm Theatre Company, Dracula with Skylight Productions, Fast Theatre with Theatre Makers, Sycamore, Burnout and Down the Valley with Donal Gallagher and The Source Arts Centre, End of the Line with Magnet Productions and Cork Midsummer Festival, and They Never Froze Walt Disney with Theatre Makers and Dublin Fringe Festival 2008. Jody appeared as Carina in RTE’s “The Clinic” in Autumn 2008. Radio work includes P.S. I Love You, Lullaby and Haunted Women for BBC Northern Ireland. Jody is co-curator of Project Brand New and was one of 16 Irish artists chosen to participate in the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival’s first Next Stage programme in 2007.
Jody is one of the six participants in the 2009 pilot New Playwrights Programme.
