Joan Sheehy
Joan’s work with the Abbey Theatre includes The Great Hunger, The Gentle Island, The Mai, A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant, Sheep’s Milk on the Boil and Yerma. Other theatre works The Playboy of the Western World, Conversations on a Homecoming, Carthaginians, The Spirit of Annie Ross (Druid), Faith Healer, Pigtown, Lovers, Where He Lies, Less Than a Year (Island Theatre) and The Stronger (Bewleys). Joan’s most recent appearances have been in Philadelphia, Here I Come! and A Doll’s House (Second Age T), Last Beauty Spot (Corcadorca) and Smallone ( Blood in the Alley Theatre Co at Andrews Lane and Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris). In 2008 Joan produced and directed Buck Jones and the Body Snatchers at the Georgian House in Limerick. It was nominated for Best Production in the Irish Times Theatre Awards and was seen at the 2009 Dublin Theatre Festival. Joan has directed Excess Baggage (Limerick Theatre Hub at the Belltable), In the Shadow of the Glen, The Tinker’s Wedding (Friarsgate Theatre) and most recently An Triail (Aisling Ghear). Film and television work includes Ros na Run, The Run of the Country, The Closer You Get, The Boxer, Happy Birthday to Me, Escape for Virgie, Teenage Kicks, Warriors, Marion agus an Bhanprionsa and Kilnascully.
