Jimmy Fay
Jimmy’s previous work at the Abbey Theatre includes Curse of the Starving Class, Macbeth, The Playboy of the Western World in a new version by Bisi Adigun and Roddy Doyle, Ages of the Moon, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, The Seafarer, Saved for which he won Best Director Irish Times Theatre Award 2007, The School for Scandal, Howie the Rookie, True West, Henry IV, The Muesli Belt, Flánn O’ Brien’s At Swim-Two-Birds, Melonfarmer and The Papar . Jimmy spent a year as acting Literary Director of the Abbey Theatre during 2007 and 2008. Jimmy is Artistic Director of Bedrock Productions where his recent productions include Colleen Bawn (co-produced with Project Arts Centre & Civic Theatre), This Is Our Youth, Roberto Zucco and Faraway. He is currently working with Derek O’Connor on an adaptation of Erich Von Stroheim’s silent film Greed for the company. He was the first director of the Dublin Fringe Festival (1995 -1996), which he co-founded with Bedrock Productions. He curated the Theatre programme for the 2007 Kilkenny Arts Festival. Other productions include Between Foxrock and a Hard Place and The Last Days of the Celtic Tiger by Paul Howard (Landmark Productions), Hoors (Traverse Theatre), a Romanian version of Malachy McKenna’s Tillsonburg (Transylvania and Sibiu Festival), The Chairs, Convictions, (Tinderbox), True West (Lyric Theatre), Rap Éire and Comedians (Bickerstaffe) awarded Best Production of Dublin Theatre Festival 1999.
