Gerard Byrne

Gerard’s work at the Abbey Theatre includes The Shaughraun, Tarry Flynn (National Theatre, London), Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme (UK tour), Macbeth, Frauds, Blinded by the Light and Strange Occurrence on Ireland’s Eye. Other theatre work includes The Carnival King (Fishamble), Home, Buddeleia, War, Brownbread, Studs, The Birdtable (The Passion Machine), Emma, Silas Marner, Esther Waters (Storytellers), The Pope and the Witch (Red Kettle), The Man with the Flower in His Mouth, Impressions of Vincent, The Man in The Iron Mask, The Man Who Cared Too Much (Project Arts Centre), Summerhouse (Druid), and most recently Jimmy Murphy’s What’s Left of the Flag (The Plough Theatre/Bewley’s Café Theatre). Film and television work includes Before I Sleep (Brother Films), The Snapper (BBC), After Midnight (Channel 4) and Domhnall Gleeson’s Noreen. Work for RTÉ includes The Truth About Claire, A Matter of Life and Debt and until recently, Malachy in Fair City. He recently performed in The Hit List, a radio play written and directed by John Boorman. Gerard has BA degree in Moderm Languages and Literature.
