George Costigan

Originally from Manchester, George used to come to Ireland regularly, visiting his oldest friend, Eric, in Six Mile Bridge, County Clare, until Eric moved away and George’s visits stopped. Happily, in the last five years work has brought him back to Ireland. His work at the Abbey theatre includes The Seafarer and Blue/Orange by Joe Penhall. He played Claudius in Calixto Bieto’s production of Hamlet at the Olympia and performed in the film Garage directed by Lenny Abrahamson. Other career highlights include the late, great Alan Clarke’s Rita, Sue and Bob, Too, and seven years at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre with Chris Bond, Willy Russell etc, including the original production of Blood Brothers. Television favourites include The Long Firm, See No Evil and playing the trans-sexual Roxanne in The Bill. His life highlights are Julia North, their three sons and living in France.
