Ben’s work at the Abbey Theatre includes The Big House, The Importance of Being Earnest, The Freedom of the City (also New York), The House, The Wake and Made in China. Other theatre credits include Zorro (West End/Paris), Serious Money, Last Easter (Birmingham Rep), Dimetos (Donmar), Two Men of Florence (Boston), The Dresser (Watford), Legal Fictions (West End), Macbeth, starring Sean Bean (Albery), The Beauty Queen of Leenane (Druid, Galway/Royal Court/Broadway), A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Merchant of Venice, The Winter’s Tale, Twelfth Night and Rose Rage, also New York/Chicago (Propeller), Macbeth, The Revenger’s Tragedy, Henry V, Julius Caesar, The Spanish Golden Age Season (RSC), Bent, Uncle Vanya, The Winter’s Tale, In Remembrance of Things Past (National Theatre, London), The Changeling, Hedda Gabler, A Doll’s House and The Seagull (English Touring Theatre). Opera credits include La Traviata (Denmark), Jeanne d’Arc au Bucher (Rome), Falstaff, Cosi fan tutti, Il trovatore (Scottish Opera), La Traviata (ENO), The Turn of the Screw (Bath/ Wessex), Baa Baa Black Sheep (Opera North/BBC2), Punch and Judy (Aldeburgh) and The Mask of Orpheus (BBC Symphony Orchestra). Dance includes Frame of View (Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, New York), See Blue Through (Ballet Gulbenkian, Introdans/Phoenix), Tender Hooks (Skånes Dans Teater/Ballet Gulbenkian) and Cinderella (Göteborg) – all choreographed by Didy Veldman, Essence (Walker Dance Park Music) and Journey (Candoco). Ben has also designed the lighting for the Calico Museum of Textiles, Ahmedabad, directed Athol Fugard’s Dimetos at the Gate Theatre, London and adapted four films from Kieslowski’s Dekalog for E15.
