Aonghus Óg McAnally
Aonghus’ previous work at the Abbey Theatre includes Big Love, The Burial at Thebes, Romeo and Juliet and The Plough and The Stars, which also toured to The Barbican, London as part of The Abbey’s centenary celebrations. Other theatre work includes Slattery’s Sago Saga and The Nose (Performance Corporation), True Enough! (Making Strange), Serious Money (Rough Magic SEEDS), The CúChulainn Cycle (R.H.A Downstairs and Riverside Studios), Myrmidons (Ouroboros Theatre Company), The Tempest (Corcadorca), Macbeth, Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet (Second Age), One-Healing with Theatre (Pan Pan), An Triail (Aisling Ghéar), Buile an Phíce (Amharclann de hÍde), A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Not a Moment to Lose (Torn Curtain) and Fight Night, winner of Best Actor ABSOLUT Fringe Awards 2010, winner of Bewley’s Little Gem Award 2010 and nominated for Best New Play Irish Times Theatre Awards 2012 and also commissioned by RTÉ as a play for radio (Bewley’s Cafe Theatre, Irish Tour and Dublin Theatre Festival). Aonghus is co-founder and artistic director of Rise Productions which created Fight Night and co-created their contribution to Tear Down the Walls (Project Brand New and Dublin Theatre Festival). Aonghus also directs and most recently directed Romeo and Juliet (Text Messages Festival). Film and television credits include Happy Ever Afters (Newgrange Pictures), P.S. I Love You (Alcon Entertainment), The Tiger’s Tail (John Boorman Productions), Pride and Joy (Arc Productions), Ella Enchanted (Miramax Films), The Nephew (Irish DreamTime), A Basketful of Wallpaper (Samson Films), An Díog is Faide (Espresso Films Limited), Corp Agus Anam, The Running Mate, Rí-Rá and Ros na Rún (TG4), When Harvey Met Bob and Murphy’s Law (BBC), Prosperity, Proof and The Clinic (RTÉ). Radio work includes Surprise, A Serpent Beguiled Me, Word of Mouth, Northsider, Mysterious Ways, Jelly agus Carrots and Tonight with Vincent Browne (RTÉ). He also works as a voice over artist, performing in radio dramas for RTÉ and has voiced the cartoons Duel Masters, Teen Titans and Legend of the Dragon (TG4). Aonghus hosts Rise Productions: Irish Theatre Podcast and the web based game show UB GAA TV. Two//Stroke is currently in development with Rise Productions. Aonghus is a graduate of the Samuel Beckett Centre, Trinity College Dublin and also trained with Anne Bogart’s SITI Company in New York.
