Anita Reeves
Anita’s work at the Abbey Theatre includes Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, Mrs O’Kelly in The Shaughraun, Ma in Da, Mrs Hardcastle in She Stoops to Conquer, Mrs Malaprop in The Rivals and Kate in Dancing at Lughnasa. She also created the role of Maggie in Dancing at Lughnasa which played at the Abbey, the National Theatre and Phoenix Theatre, London. She received a Critics’ Circle Award and an Olivier Award nomination for her portrayal of Maggie. Other Dublin appearances include The Pirates of Penzance, Guys and Dolls, Shirley Valentine, A Life, Moving and Les Miserables. She played Little Buttercup in HMS Pinafore (Gaiety, Dublin and Garrick, London), Juno in Juno and the Paycock (Gaiety, Dublin and Wyndhams, London), Mrs O’Kelly in The Shaughraun (Albery Theatre, London), Kate in The Cripple of Inishmaan (National Theatre, London) and Onoria in Naked (Almeida and Playhouse Theatres, London). Anita recently played Mrs Lovett in Sweeney Todd at the Gate Theatre. Films include The Butcher Boy, The Miracle, Into the West, Fools of Fortune, Talk of Angels, Angel, The Ballroom of Romance and Adam and Paul.
