Alyson Cummins

Alyson Cummins Set Design

Alyson previously designed No Escape at the Abbey Theatre. She studied Architecture at UCD and after completing an internship at the Abbey Theatre she was awarded an Arts Council grant to train at the Motley Theatre Design School in London and was a finalist in the Linbury Biennial Prize for Stage Design 2007 on Turandot by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Tony Clarke for Hampstead Theatre. Other set designs include The Trailer of Bridget Dinnigan (ITM) and Off Plan (RAW, Project Arts Centre). Set and costume designs include Hamlet (Second Age), The Colleen Bawn (Project,Civic, Bedrock), Serious Money, Dying City (Rough Magic AIB SEEDS), Extremities (Spark to a Flame), Crosswired (East London Dance Festival and Shoreditch Festival), The Trials of Brother Jero, Through a Film Darkly (Arambe), Daily Bread, (Dublin Youth Theatre), Top Girls (Galloglass), Forget-me-not Lane (The Lit) and Ya Get Me (Old Vic education department). Alyson completed Rough Magic’s AIB SEEDS programme during which she assisted designer Rae Smith on The Birds (Gate Theatre) and designer Monica Frawley on I Puritani (Nuremburg State Theatre), The Giant Blue Hand (The Ark) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Opera Ireland). More recently she was assistant designer on the Gate Theatre’s BPM Festival.
