Ali’s work with the Abbey Theatre includes Romeo and Juliet, Closer and The House (nominated for an Irish Times/ESB Theatre Award for both performances), Dancing at Lughnasa, Translations, Philadelphia, Here I Come! and The Trojan Women. Other work includes This is What We Sang (Winner: Best Production, First Irish Festival 2010, New York), Benefactors (b*spoke), Love and Money (Hatch), Spokesong (Rough magic/Lyric Theatre, Belfast), Is This About Sex?, The School for Scandal, Northern Star, Love and a Bottle (Time Out Award), Lady Windermere’s Fan (Rough Magic), Aristocrats, The Double Dealer, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Gate Theatre), Silas Marner, Hard Times (Storytellers), Cheapside (Druid), The Factory Girls (Bickerstaffe), The Steward of Christendom (Out of Joint), The Silver Tassie (Almeida), Pygmies in the Ruins (Royal Court), The Importance of Being Earnest (West Yorkshire Playhouse), Playhouse Creatures (Old Vic) and two seasons at the Lyric Theatre, Belfast. She is a frequent performer on RTÉ Radio Drama and BBC Radio Ulster. Ali is also a writer and her work includes Any Time Now, a six part comedy drama series for RTÉ/BBC; four series of The Clinic for Parallel Films/RTÉ and Catching the Fly a radio play for BBC Radio 4.
