Aidan Harney

Aidan Harney, from Dundalk, began acting with Gorey Little Theatre Company in Wexford while working there as a journalist. In 2001 he was commissioned by Rough Magic Theatre Company and Dublin Fringe Festival to write A Monarch in Hollywood as part of their SEEDS initiative for new Irish writers. In 2007 the premiere of the comedy The Unsuccessful Suicide of Trish O’Malley was staged by Red Kettle Theatre Company, Waterford. Also in 2007, as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival, the play Titus, telling the story of the Dutch monk, Titus Brandsma, and his journey to Dublin in the 1930s, was part of the Dublin Fringe Festival. In 2008, the play Submarine Man: The little-known life of John P. Holland was produced by Upstate Theatre Company, Drogheda, and toured to venues throughout Ireland. The play began a nationwide tour again in April 2009.

Aidan is one of six participants in the 2009 pilot New Playwrights Programme.
