Great news on casting!
With two new plays in the offing, we are delighted to announce that we have now fully cast No Escape and building our cast for Bookworms.
No Escape compiled and edited by Mary Raftery is piece of documentary theatre based on the Ryan Report. The first rate cast comprises Jane Brennan, Lorcan Cranitch, Michele Forbes, Eamonn Hunt, Eleanor Methven, Donal O’Kelly and Jonathan White. It runs from 13 April – 24 April on the Peacock stage. This is the first time a piece of documentary theatre has been commssioned in Ireland.
From 22 May – 10 July we present the world premiere of Bookworms by celebrated playwright Bernard Farrell and directed by Jim Culleton. So far the cast includes the excellent Phelim Drew, Deirdre Donnelly, Liz Fitzgibbon, Karen Egan, Michael Glenn Murphy and Marion O’Dwyer.
It is set in the world of book clubs, suburbia and post celtic tiger Ireland. This month’s book club hostess Ann is struggling to stay calm, desperate to deliver the perfect evening of literary classics and late-night canapés. But when the all-female group invite their husbands to join the club, and a mysterious figure pays a visit from an upstairs room, everyone is forced to contend with a lot more than just Virginia Woolf.
You can bring your own book club along and meet for a pre-show coffee or better still a G&T in the Abbey Bar! Discounted tickets available for groups of 6 or more. Please call 01 87 87 222 for more details.
Bookworms runs from 22 May – 10 July on the Abbey stage.
