Our exploration of Yeats’s plays continued apace with a series of Talks and Readings in late November.
The harsh weather conditions didn’t dissuade audience members from attending a fascinating talk by Professor Roy Foster and readings of The Words upon the Window-Pane and The Death of Cuchulain directed by Gavin Quinn and The Only Jealousy of Emer and Purgatory directed by Wayne Jordan.
Both Professor Anthony Roche and Professor Declan Kiberd gave illuminating introductions to the readings, allowing the audience an insight into academic discourse on the plays.
Our in-house work on the plays will continue in late January 2011, when Selina Cartmell will direct a week-long workshop of Deirdre, using actors, singers and musicians.
