New talks announced!
Meet the makers of our productions or get a new perspective on the work we put on stage at one of our talks this season.
Our thrilling new production of Macbeth is just about to take over the Abbey stage. In response to the play Dr. Stephen O’Neill (NUI Maynooth) will discuss power, politics and paranoia in Shakespeare’s work (Thursday, 8 April).
We will soon present The Darkest Corner on the Peacock stage, a series of work which remembers and reflects on the findings of the recent Ryan Report. To engage with performances and issues explored in the season, we have programmed the following talks:
Meet the Makers of No Escape on Thursday, 15 April, when writer Mary Raftery and director Róisín McBrinn will discuss the process of making documentary theatre. Writer and journalist Bruce Arnold will explore the reaction of our politicians to the findings of the Murphy and Ryan reports in his talk, The Politics of Abuse on Tuesday 20 April. This series will close with a discussion with Gerard Mannix Flynn, the writer, director and performer of James X, on Thursday, 22 April.
We are delighted to present a free post show talk with Jean Butler and Tere O’Connor, performer and creator of DAY, as part of Dublin Dance Festival on Thursday, 20 May.
Keep an eye on our website over the coming weeks for more talks, including one from much-loved writer Bernard Farrell, and celebrated director Shivaun O’Casey.
