Behind the scenes – Guided Backstage Tours

Tour involves

  • A brief introduction to the history of the National Theatre
  • An opportunity to tread the boards of the Abbey Stage
  • A look behind the scenes to experience the creative processes

Tour Prices

  • €6.50 per person
  • Concession €5
  • Child €3.50 (Under 16)
  • Family €15 (4 tickets, maximum 2 adults)
  • Specialist Tour €60 plus tour price

Tour times and conditions

  • Thursdays at 12 noon (except production and preview weeks). Tours must be
    pre-booked by phone or email.
  • Payment can be made by cash, credit card or laser card.
  • Tours outside of this time may be accommodated but must be agreed at time of booking.
  • Tours are limited to 25 places. It may not be possible to accommodate latecomers.

Points of information for group leaders:

  • We request that teachers and group leaders remain with their group at all times while in the Abbey Theatre.
  • Please arrive at least ten minutes before the tour commences in the Abbey Theatre foyer.
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium.
  • Photography is not permitted within the auditorium.
  • Please note some areas of backstage are not accessible to wheelchair users.

Please note that the Abbey Theatre is a working theatre, tours may be subject to cancellation at short notice.
