Behind the scenes – Guided Backstage Tours
Tour involves
- A brief introduction to the history of the National Theatre
- An opportunity to tread the boards of the Abbey Stage
- A look behind the scenes to experience the creative processes
Tour Prices
- €6.50 per person
- Concession €5
- Child €3.50 (Under 16)
- Family €15 (4 tickets, maximum 2 adults)
- Specialist Tour €60 plus tour price

Tour times and conditions
- Thursdays at 12 noon (except production and preview weeks). Tours must be
pre-booked by phone or email. - Payment can be made by cash, credit card or laser card.
- Tours outside of this time may be accommodated but must be agreed at time of booking.
- Tours are limited to 25 places. It may not be possible to accommodate latecomers.
Points of information for group leaders:
- We request that teachers and group leaders remain with their group at all times while in the Abbey Theatre.
- Please arrive at least ten minutes before the tour commences in the Abbey Theatre foyer.
- No food or drinks are allowed in the auditorium.
- Photography is not permitted within the auditorium.
- Please note some areas of backstage are not accessible to wheelchair users.
Please note that the Abbey Theatre is a working theatre, tours may be subject to cancellation at short notice.
