Day 2 Review of The Theatre of War Symposium

The second of 4 panel discussions featured choreographer and performer John Scott, co-founder of DAH Theatre Belgrade Dijana Milošević,writer and director Hope Azeda, and playwrights Naomi Wallace and Ismail Karim Khalidi.

Ray Dolphin then gave a talk on the fragmentation of Palestine and Prof. Gauri Viswanathan spoke about nationalism and the politics of spirituality in Ireland and India.

The third panel featured Dr Brendan Ciarán Browne alongside playwrights Stacey Gregg and Amir Nizar Zuabi, talking about the responses and reactions to walls, barriers and boundaries (moderated by Shona McCarthy).

Finally we heard a talk from Dr Anne Dolan on the Irish Civil War, followed by a performance from Helen Chadwick Song Theatre.

A rehearsed reading of Stacey Gregg’s Shibboleth was performed to a sold-out Peacock Theatre.
