The Rivals features the romantic misadventures of Lydia Languish, her ‘destitute’ lover Ensign Beverly, and the immortal Mrs. Malaprop, whose habit of choosing the perfectly wrong word has made her a household name. Add to this melting pot an overpowering father, a scheming maid, a country bumpkin and a strutting Irishman and you have all the ingrediencts for a delightful comic romp!
With a stylish set that reflects both the period and the contemporary, vibrant costumes and humorous lessons on social graces, The Rivals is guaranteed to be a fabulous night out for all!
This fun and cheeky production opens on the Abbey stage on Tuesday 28 July, with low cost previews from Wednesday 22 July.
