28 Dec 2011 0 Comments

Five world premieres, national and international touring and new work from new and established Irish writers and sell-out performances. What a year we have had together.

Over 120,000 people came to 18 productions at the Abbey in 2011.

Internationally we staged 99 performances of TERMINUS by Mark O’Rowe and Abbey Theatre tours visited three continents with John Gabriel Borkman, Terminus and B for Baby which toured to 15 venues throughout Ireland.

The Abbey Theatre made history by presenting new plays by four female playwrights in a row with No Romance by Nancy Harris, Perve by Stacey Gregg, 16 Possible Glimpses by Marina Carr and B FOR BABY by Carmel Winters.

Over 2,000 people attended Abbey Talks during 2011.

Our Casting Department conducted over 500 auditions casting 298 roles across productions, readings and workshops. While 33 actors made their debut at the Abbey Theatre.

The Abbey’s Literary Department attended over 100 productions all over Ireland including shows at the ABSOLUT Fringe Festival and Dublin Theatre Festival.

Due to the growing success of the Costume Departments costume hire facility – in 2011 the department has increased the number of days it opens from one to two.

Thank you for helping make all of this happen.
