The National Campaign for the Arts was launched in September 2009 to promote awareness of the arts on local and national government agendas, and to highlight the importance of Irish arts and culture to economic recovery. We are proud to join representatives from the diverse fields of theatre, music, film, literature, dance and the visual arts as a member of the Campaign.

Activities, meetings and events are being held across the country to support the Campaign – watch what the Cork Arts Workers group got up to last Saturday on youtube.

You too can have your voice heard – sign the online petition and support the demands of the NCFA which calls for:

- Maintenance of current levels of funding to the Arts Council

- Retention of Culture Ireland, the agency for the promotion of Irish arts worldwide

- Retention of The Irish Film Board, development agency of the Irish film industry

- Retention of the artists’ income tax exemption scheme

- Commitment to retain the arts portfolio at cabinet as part of a senior ministerial portfolio

To find out more about the National Campaign for the Arts visit their website, join them on Facebook or register with your local Arts Worker Group to take action and support the arts in Ireland.
