Senator Fiach MacConghail’s Seanad Salary Entitlement

Abbey Theatre Director, Fiach Mac Conghail was appointed to the Seanad in May 2011. He will take his Seanad salary entitlement and pay tax on that figure. Post tax, he will be donating his entire Seanad salary to the arts. He will donate 60% of his salary entitlement to the Abbey Theatre, Ireland’s national theatre and the remaining 40% will be donated to other arts projects, research, and the National Campaign for the Arts (NCFA).
Fiach Mac Conghail is in receipt of the Party Leaders Allowance however he will not personally gain from this and will put the allowance towards support of arts, research, cultural projects and charities. He will take a greatly reduced Public Representation Allowance for administration expenses in his Seanad office. He will be waiving his annual Travel Allowance entitlement entirely.
